Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 9, 2026

1. Introduction

FrankVenture LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates InformedJD ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, email address, password (hashed)
  • Profile information: career stage, law school, graduation year, practice interests, work preferences, bar admissions, current firm, current judge
  • Firm submissions: firm names, descriptions, and related data you submit
  • Communications: messages you send to us

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, actions taken within the Service
  • Device information: browser type, operating system, device identifiers
  • Log data: IP address, access times, referring URLs
  • Analytics: we use privacy-focused product analytics (see Section 6)

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect Social Security numbers or government IDs
  • We do not collect financial information directly (payments handled by our payment processor)
  • We do not collect health information
  • We do not purchase data from third-party data brokers

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To personalize your experience (firm matching, recommendations)
  • To process your account and transactions
  • To communicate with you about the Service
  • To improve and develop the Service
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers: third parties that help us operate the Service (hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

We never share your profile data, career preferences, or firm match results with law firms or employers.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service uses trusted third-party providers for the following functions:

  • Hosting: cloud hosting and content delivery
  • Database: managed database services with encryption at rest
  • Payment processing: PCI-compliant payment processor (see Section 5a)
  • Email delivery: transactional email provider
  • Product analytics: privacy-focused analytics (see Section 6)
  • Intelligent features: advanced language processing for document review, interview practice, and mentoring features. Text submitted for analysis is processed under API terms that prohibit use of your data for model training.

5a. Subscription and Payment Data

When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information (card number, expiration, CVC, billing address) is collected and processed directly by our PCI-compliant payment processor. InformedJD never sees or stores your full card details. We receive and store from the processor only the information necessary to manage your subscription: customer ID, subscription ID, plan, status, current period end date, and trial end date. The processor's use of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policy. We retain billing records as required by tax and accounting law (typically seven years).

6. Cookies, Analytics, and Your Choices

Essential cookies. We set a small number of strictly necessary cookies (and similar browser-storage items) so the Service can function. These include your authentication session token, CSRF protection tokens, and a record of your cookie consent choice. Essential cookies are set regardless of your consent choices because the Service cannot function without them.

Analytics cookies. If you grant consent, we use a privacy-focused analytics tool to collect product-analytics data so we can understand which features are used, identify bugs, and prioritize improvements. The analytics provider may set first-party cookies or use similar storage. Analytics data is associated with a pseudonymous identifier and, once you sign in, with your user ID. We do not sell analytics data to third parties and we do not use it for advertising.

Your consent. The first time you visit InformedJD, we display a cookie banner asking you to accept analytics cookies or use essential cookies only. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. If you decline analytics, we do not load the analytics provider at all. You can change your choice anytime by clearing your browser's site data for InformedJD or by contacting us at privacy@informedjd.com.

Do Not Track. We honor browser "Do Not Track" signals as an additional opt-out: if your browser sends DNT, we treat it as a denial of analytics consent.

No advertising trackers. InformedJD does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party advertising networks of any kind.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Secure password hashing (industry-standard algorithms)
  • Role-based access controls
  • Security headers (HSTS, X-Frame-Options, Content-Security-Policy)

No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@informedjd.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
